Author's Autobiography

Hi!
I was born in Cleveland, Ohio the last year the Indians won the World Series. I earned a B.A. in English Literature from Hiram College, Hiram, Ohio, and studied at Elphinstone College, in Bombay, India. I worked in the music business in New York, then joined the Federal Government, for a 29-year run as a tax collector, a computer programmer and IT manager, and later as a writer and editor in corporate communications.

My Writing Blog:  From the Spitbucket
An avid reader of detective fiction, I'm inspired by the stories and style of Chandler, Hammett, Cain, and by pulp fiction from the first half of the 20th century.
I found my muse when I tried my hand at mystery fiction. My first private eye story, “The Tall Blonde with the Hot Boiler,” resulted in my first sale, to Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine (Jan. 2011.) EQMM has subsequently published three more of my stories. I've sold longer fiction to Dead Guns Press and Dark Passages, and short fiction to Shotgun Honey.
My first novel is White with Fish, Red with Murder, about my series detective, Frank Swiver, whose noir adventures take place 60-some years ago in San Francisco.
My second novel, Last Puffs, out in Jan. 2018 from New Pulp Press is the second to feature Frank Swiver.

My passions are my family, writing, reading, running, peace, Italian cars, and California wine. I lives with my wife, Anastasia, in Maryland, where we have raised two children.
